Hi I just joined the site ... looks like the place to be .... just bought a project (motor in crates) and would like to verify motor through the numbers stamped on the side ... and start ordering the RIGHT parts for it ..... anyone have a link or know what the numbers mean?

Probably a '73 Trident 750 TRIPLE frame, possibly a '77 750 TWIN frame. The engine won't fit in the frame, I don't think.

TR7RV is from a Triumph Tiger 750cc Twin with a 5 speed gearbox. XX would indicate Dec 77 build and a 78 model yr. I suspect the D is actually 0 and forms part of the serial no 03623.

Frame
T150 is a Triumph Trident triple (3 cylinder) built in March 73 and is a 73 model.

I do not think it would be easy to match up the engine to the frame as they are quite different machines although some of the cycle parts may be common or at least similar.
Suggest selling Trident frame and finding the correct frame for a Tiger. It would be the easier rebuild and Tiger frames are likely to be more available than Trident engines.

As for the year, are you sure it is XXD and not XX or XD? Maybe it is XX03623?? I'm not sure they made the TR7RV in 69, but if they did the gear shifter would be on the RIGHT. If it is a 77, the gear shift on the "normal" LEFT side.

FYI,
I know it is not the same, but my TR7RV motor is in what I have been told is a "pre-68" bonnie frame. No numbers on the frame though so that came from an old triumph guy that looked it over. The Bonnie frames are much more common that a Tiger frame. You might want to look for one of those instead. Just a thought

thank you for the replies so far .... trying to post pics of project I know the frame was for a three cylinder ... using it for the wider cradle to offset the motor a little only minor clearance problem like I said just want to get right internals first try ... any comments or criticism welcome
