Detailed Technical Threads Sticky

I just thought up a great idea so as not to crowd the "sticky" section with too many threads (darn, I wish we had our own forum section with several sub-sections!)

I'm going to keep this ONE POST as the main detailed tech reference sticky thread, and post links to the various detailed topic threads pertaining to various technical aspects such as overhaul checklist, sludge trap thread, primary oil discussion, etc.

I hope everyone appreciates how much fantastic detailed information and experienced discussion many of our members have contributed to these threads. This forum really is great because of YOU, THE MEMBERS.

I only went back 50 or so posts looking for good recent topics, if anyone wants to search back further and suggest more to add, I'll bump them into the top sticky. As we find older threads on similar topics, we can add those links under the similar topic headlines.

I think this single-sticky thread is such a good idea, I'm going to create another one dedicated to member's restoration & rebuild projects. I'd like y'all to recommend member restoration/overhaul threads to add to that one as well!

I HAVE MOVED ALL OF THE LISTED THREADS INTO THE NEW TECH SECTION AS OF 4/22.

So, here's the master detailed tech thread sticky list:

Great idea, I think the paint topic is hidden away a bit to far away though for general enquiries and suppliers. I have been watching the numbers it is one of the fastest growing topics not in comment but in views.
I realize this would be difficult to police with your other topics especially trying to keep TOO the topic of discussion. Could you please look into it?

Perhaps the detailed topic should under you guidance be broken down more into chapters i.e. engine number questions, motor, gear box, clutch, fuel systems and lubrication, ignition systems, frames and forks, Wheel, brakes and tyres, electrical systems, painting and finishing’s chroming and polishing, decal placement etc.

The idea being if one has a motor rebuilt question the answer may be found under the motor topic.

I have seen several questions repeated or re-asked 2 or 3 months later so the answer is there its just a matter of how to find the exact answer. End of the day these topics must be keep clean i.e. no chit chat.

Just my thoughts. Really a GR8 idea.

Oh I forgot under each one of those topics’ there could be year, model, type etc.

As a newbie, this is great!!!!!! Heck my dumb question on my 69 sitting for 10 years even made the list. I can read up before asking questions that have already been asked. Thank you very much!!!!

Additional sticky?

Greetings GrandpaulZ and all

Excellent topic coordination with the system there is to work with.

I wonder how many, beside myself, might feel an advantage to access information and opinions already offered (just hard to find) regarding
newbie questions like

"type of oil - detergent vs non-detergent mode, synthetic?"

"grade of gas and/or need for additives considering OEM valve
systems and todays NO-LEAD gas"

"high output headlamps etc considering OEM alternators"

"OEM vs. electronic ignition, the good and bad to any"

"tires offered today for old Triumphs"

"heck, how about sealed chains (not requiring oiler) compared to
stock?"

I imagine there may be folks who have a vintage Triumph that are not into a rebuild or restoration and could use such references to enjoy the status quo.

This forum is strictly controlled by the owners & admin, so creating sections and sub-sections has to be approved.

We're "maxxed out" so to speak...
