abrupt throttle response 2009 T100

I just took delivery last week of a new 2009 Bonneville T100. What a great bike! I put about 250 miles on it stock and it's silky smooth. I just had TORS installed with the reprogram and here's the problem.

When I roll the throttle on/off with stock setup, there's some quickness but it can be controlled so you get a smooth transition. But with the new setup, it clunks, regardless how carefully you roll on/off. This drives me crazy and I'm thinking of going back to stock, giving up all the benefits of the TORS (better sound, more power).

I assume this is a result of EFI computer reprogram rather than anything to do with the TORS. I'm also afraid only the factory can fix this. Anybody got an 2009 EFI experienced this?

09 Runs Great

Stock 09 ran great, just too quiet. Installed TORs sounded better and felt a little quicker. Supposedly did a slight remap. Since then, I pulledd the airbox, installedd Domiator HT exhausts and had the arow 2 into 2 tune downloaded into my bike. It's run great with all three. Check to see what map they installed. I was told I didn't need one with the TORs.

There are quite a few downloads, very possibly gave you too much for too little of an upgrade.

Good luck with your problem.-Frank

Yes, this is not unusual and can likely be solved with a remap or definitely can be solved with a Power Commander III. I went the route of the PCIII; someone else should comment on a re-map.

hayekfan, you are not alone. It is a very common experience to have a snatchy throttle response after upgrading to the Tors map. There has been extensive discussion on here about it so I won't get into the technical explanation. Your options include going back to the factory map, which might give you some popping on deceleration, but should run fine with the Tors. However, it seems there has been a lot of satisfied riders using the Arrow two-into-one map (preferred) or the Arrow two-in-two map.
But rest assured that your abrupt throttle response is due to the ECU mapping and not the Tors.
Another, more sophisticated solution is to go and install a Power Commander III on your bike and get a custom tune... but that is another matter and fairly expensive. Search around the exhaust threads and you should find a lot of references to the snatchy throttle and the Tors map.

I saw a recent post of yours that suggested the remap on the PCIII smoothed it out off idle and that they would be offering this map shortly. If that's so, I'm on board.

Thanks for your numberous posts on this topic.

How much change to gas mileage was there with the remaps?

I believe the PCIII no longer fits the 09 Bonneville/Thruxton/T100. Instead they quote the new PCV, reference number 21-005, as the correct one for our bikes.
I don't like it as much. We've lost the front plate adjusting buttons and the useful LED fuel mixture gauge. Everything has to be done through a PC now. On the road fine adjustments are now a thing of the past unless you want to carry a laptop with you.

The PCIII USB is still available from Dynojet, and is $10 less expensive than the PCV. My tuner won't use the PCV on a Bonnie/Thrux; only the PCIII...he reports lots of software bugs with the PCV.

Dick,

Thanks for head's up. I'm going to my dealer next week and will talk to him about putting a PCIII on.

I've done this twice now: once on my '09 50th Anniversary Bonnie, and again on my 2009 green and white bike. No regrets; it's a significant improvement over stock. My bikes have custom maps developed on the the dyno by some who has done literally hundreds of Triumphs, and he swears by the PCIII and at the PCV.
