04 Thrux Issues

hi Gang
started readinga thread on 2004 Thruxtons and them having some issues..
What exactly do these pre 05's issues mean?
Also, the red in 04, is a different red than now a days correct?
newer Reds seem more brighter and the 04s seem more of a burgandy....or am i getting old and color blind..??
thanks

I am not aware of any issues unique to the '04 Thrux so keen to hear what they might be. Mine runs like a train so far...

Haven't heard of anything specific to that year.

Thanks guys
I'm wondering if they are referring to a recall on the rear shocks that I saw on a random google search.
Any feedback on the color?
As mention, I don think its the same red as new thruxtons.....

By now I'd be guessing most owners of '04 Thruxtons would have changed over to aftermarket rear shocks. The OEM rear shocks aren't much chop and they tend to be one of the first mods made. I have Ikons and have no issues with them. My 04 Thruxton is black so can't comment on your colour question

I haven't had any problems with my '04 Thruxton, but I replaced the shocks along with installing the racetech emulators and springs in the forks. The newer Thruxtons were available in Tornado Red which is brighter than the darker, more metallic '04 Sunset Red. The newer models also have a solid stripe instead of the checkerboard stripe on the earlier models.

BTW, take a look at the picture forum and on page 4, the 3rd & 4th pictures have the two different red thruxtons next to each other.

hi guys
ok, so here is where im at.
talked to the seller- price is at a good point.

the seller has the title, but also mentioned that he has a lien on the bike. Can you really have both the title in hand AND a lien on your bike too?

Any recommendations?
seller is in another state from me and is about 6 hours away.
plan was to make the payment, ship the bike to me and when he takes care of his lien, send me, something i guess stating that the lien is no longer in existance..
Am i getting taken to the bank?
are there any safe guards i can take?
im doing this by paypal too ( gotta get airline miles for this one and take my wife on a trip!)
thanks

Hmm. Sounds a bit suspicious. While the bike may be paid off, the lien maybe for an unpaid debt. Personally, I wouldn't want to get involved with something like that unless a lawyer looked over everything, and that just adds to the cost of the bike and possibly hassles. Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck,

Rob
