Speedometer lights out?
Hi Guys
I have a 2007 Thruxton. I noticed yesterday that the lower part of the sppedometer is no longer illuminated. At first i thought it was how it's suppose to be. But compared to the rev counter it looks like the left and right lower lower parts are out.
What i am asking, is there more than one bulb in there and is it easy to replace?
The bike only has 1200 miles on it and i guess this is under warranty. Not that i want to bother the dealer with this if it's an easy fix.
Thanks Guys All the best John

Each instrutment has two lights. The tach has two of equal size (a large size)while the speedo has one large (same as the large tach bulb, near the top) and one that is small near the odometer (the same size as your idiot light bulbs). The smaller one may not be out, as its does a less than adequate job of illuminating the odometer area.
They are easy to replace.
Andy

Thanks Andy
I will check it out.
I was not sure myself wether it was out or just dim.

I doubt if it is a burned out light bulb. I had problems with the wiring harness--there's a sub-harness that goes from the headlight to the instruments. The power for the bulbs is spliced about 4 times and these splices corrode rapidly in high moisture situations. On mine, one of the splices had corroded enough to separate. The bike was less than two years old and the dealer got me a new sub-harness under warranty, and I replaced the harness myself. I wanted to do the work myself because the insulation sheath on the sub-harness is very tightly connected to the connector inside the headlight shell and the upper end of the sheath is open. Moisture can get in easily, but cannot escape. I modified the sheath connection to the connector inside the headlight shell, and I have had no problems since. I took the old sub-harness to the dealer so he would have it if Triumph requested it.

If it's a burned-out bulb, consider replacing all the bulbs with LEDs. I used Superbrightleds WLEDx6 (3) and 74x1-HP (1)(four bulbs for two gauges). And you can pick your color; I used blue.

I opted for blue also, but used WLEDx5's (3) and one 74x1. The X5's give a more even light distribution than the X6's. One on axis, and 4 at the cardinal points perpendicular to the axis. The X6 is a cluster of 6 leds all illuminating parallel to the axis.
These Led's are all direct replacements for the existing bulbs (WLEDx5, WLEDx6 and 74x1's)

Had the same problem. I had my dealer replace the sub-harness under warranty.
Then I decided to install amber LEDs in my instruments after seeing this pic...

Speedo bulbs
I have the same problem on my '05 T-100. The bottom light is out on the speedo. To change it do you just unscrew the cap, disconnect the speedo from the cable, then what? It looks sealed as I remember it. That's what scared me off. Do you remove the speedo housing - and you"re good to go.
I like the blue LEDs.

Hi Baltobonneville
I love the way the blue looks. Is that a T100 speedo and tach?
Also were did you get the bulbs from? supplier etc?
Mine must be burned out because you can't see the Triumph name on the speedo but you can on the tach.
Thanks John
