Sticking Throttle
This morning was pretty cold (38° F). Started up the Bonnie and while putting on the helmet blipped the throttle and it stuck. Tested several times on the way to work and it kept doing it, almost like a throttle lock. Question is, has this happened to you and what was the culprit? I can go thru all the usual lubing of linkage and cables, just wanted to know if it was something specific to bonnies.

I've not heard of this happening to Bonnies generally, and believe that the problems is specific to your bike. It's an obvious safety issue, so please be careful.

Check the clearance between the twist grip and your bar end cap to see if it's fouling on that. It has happened to me on my T100 and my previous bike, also to a few others with Bonnies. The gap closes inexplicably, often during a change in the weather. The first time it happened to me I spent ages checking and lubing cables, etc... before I found it. The next time I knew where to look first. If this is the problem, just loosen the screws that hold the throttle assembly in place and move it away from the bar end cap.

I had the same thing on my 2003. Be careful though as the screw is bound to work itself out with the vibrations. I ended up putting in a plastic spacer inside the bar that allowed me to tighten all the way and still give me enough clearance.

Thanks for the help. I have Nap's bar-end mirrors and that may be the issue that the grip is hanging up on it. I will check it out.

I moved the whole assembly (throttle/switchgear/brake/etc...) on the handlebar, away from the bar end cap. I didn't loosen the screw holding the bar end cap. A different approach to the same end.

G,
Happened to Me except in the heat.
Moved the control away from the throttle...Bingo!
That's why I carry tools. Ya never know.
Did you ride Mt Lemon Sunday?
I went out at 9:30 and she wouldn't start!
thumpa-thumpa-poot, thumpa-thumpa-poot!
No spark to plugs. Not enough voltage! Bad battery just like that!
Replaced battery yesterday...
Sorry I missed the ride...
A...
