Suggestions..

Just did the Bafflectomy on my '05 Bonnie. I love the sound. My bike is otherwise stock.

I've noticed a little loss of mid-range power with this mod. I pulled the snorkel and I get backfiring. My d-tool is on it's way as we speak but will messing with the idle mixture be enough to solve my problem? I'm trying not to rejet as I'm looking to do the airbox mod over the winter.

I think my jets are 110 but am not sure. I know that I should change them but I'd like to avoid that.

Changing 110 jets for 115 will solve the problem...and it's very easy to do !

Thumbs up D Tool

A spent M-16 cartridge will do well. Open the D screws 1/2- 3/4 turn & you will find all will PROBABLY be ok? It was w/ me! Good luck

you will probably need to go to a bigger main jet after removing the airbox. after you determine what main jets work for you and you still have a flat spot in the mid range you may want to try adding a shim. this may give you a bit of a mid range boost and get rid of the flat spot.

No airbox REMOVAL yet? Should be ok till then & then comes the jetting etc!! I am de snorked & ectomied. Opened dem screws up & everything is rite on!! 9000 mi+ & the plugs still looked & gapped new! I am staying there! Runs just fine!! Not looking to set any speed rec's! Just wanted the "True Triumph" sound & the extra TRI- uumph.

I couldn't wait for my tool so I made my own from the ink cartridge of a fine pen. Worked well enough!
Now out to ride. Thanks!

Look at these, and get rid of the need for a D Tool. Not to imply that your solution wasn't a very nice solution, but those D screw are a pain.

Also, look at these for the carbs.

Those phillips screws on the carbs are a problem lurking to get you.

Yeah I just put an order in for those. I'm still popping. Might have to face the inevitable and change my mains.

I guess by "popping" I mean a backfire in the actual carburetors themselves.. It happens about 1-2 times EVERY TIME I ride, especially at lower RPM.

Does this mean that I'm running too lean? I don't want to damage the carbs!

Rejet and get it over with. It'll just make it that much easier when you do it again for the airbox removal, and it'll give you some peace of mind to not have to worry about damaging the engine in the mean time. Jets are what, all of $7 a pair?
