Gas Octane For 2004 America

I'm a newbe and I just got my first Triumph America. I noticed the pipes close to the engine are blue in color. I think it means the engine is running lean, the bike is stock. I live a long ways from a Truimph dealer, so I can't take it to a dealer. What octane of gas should I use? Would higher octane help it from running lean? It has 9,000 miles on it and runs great. I'm also thinking about getting pipes from Triumph, TORS would be my choice. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ted

Though the bikes apparently come a bit lean from the factory, the blue'ing of your headers is caused by the Air Injection system - and can be eliminated with an AI removal kit (eg. http://www.bellacorse.com/bce025.htm)

I run normal (regular) octane with no issues - there is no need to pay for the expensive stuff in these engines. My bike has TORs, and I'm really happy with both the look and sound... but you'll find 1000 opinions on pipes here at the forums..

Triumph 2004 America Gas Octane

Thanks. I just ordered the kit and I will use regular gas. I need to save some money or the TOR's, new ones cost some bucks. Thanks, Ted
