"Off Road" Pipes, Baffelectomy

After five years of ownership, I'm finally going to get around to doing the little jobs mentioned above, along with AI removal. I'd like to get some input from owners who have done these little mods so that I can avoid the common pitfalls.

How loud are the pipes?

After you did these things, how was your gas milage effected?

I'm thinking that the pipes need to come from Triumph, and everything else from newbonneville.com.

Thanks for your input!

There are tons of aftermarket pipes available for the bonny, you just need to know what style and how loud you want them.

I have the TOR set up on my Bonny and I love it. They are quiet and normal riding and neutral throttle but roar like mad when you give her fuel. They are great neighbour pipes becuase you can get into your garage without bugging anyone and go past cops without them even looking at you but you can go down the blvd and roar away.

To do the job right i don't think its just a matter of adding slip ons. It will backfire with the cans and the AI inplace. I to would remove the AI (as you ahve suggested). Also, you should really get the carbs jetted properly. Others will be able to better comment on this. My bike spent time at the dealer and they put the TORS on, rejetted and dyno-tuned it. It cost about 1300cdn by the time the smoke cleared.

I love the sound. I think you will too.

Thumbs up Pipes

I got gutted stockers & love them! Smooth & mello @ idle & slow accel. Will give a roar on WOT. I love the sweet burble coming down from high RPM as I come into the garage complex!! No popping- just a sweet burble. The best thing is they were free! BUT ea to his (or her ) own?

Indeed - TORs sound good to me, make the bike a bit more authentic. Bafflectomy is way cheaper and does basically the same thing.

Newbonneville is a good source for the other bits, Brent looks after us.

Ouch on the cost!

I'd like to know where to find pipes that are visually identical to the originals, with a nice, mellow sound, if anybody has any suggestions?

Many thanks!
