no turn signal on Bonnie

Hi,

Just got my Bonnie (2003 T100) yesterday (pre-owned) and today when I rode the bike the turn signals wouldn't go off. No lights at all, neither the control LED nor any of the 4 lights. I understand turn signals share fuse with break light, which works fine (everything else works fine BTW).
Any idea what this could be?

When you say they "wouldn't go off" I assume you mean they wouldn't come on?

After checking fuses (check them anyway, to be sure), check the turn signal flasher under the left side cover. I think it's the box on the right, as you look at it. You should be able to get a replacement in an auto parts store for much less than Triumph charges for it, if you can figure out which one to replace it with. If you're lucky, it'll just be a problem with some water in there. Grease everything with dielectric grease when you put it back together.

You could also try checking the bulbs, although if they all don't work, it's probably something closer to the flasher end of the circuit, or the switch.

By the way, that's not an LED in the idiot light, unless it was replaced with one. If so, that could open up a new set of issues, but something would still work.

Thanks, it was the fuse

Thanks for your advice. I pulled out the fuse although it's a shared circuit with the break light and put it back in. That seems to have worked, turn signals work fine. My explanation is that maybe the contact was a bit corroded and ok for break light but not enough for the turn relais.

I'm glad it was that simple, and welcome to TriumphRat!

Someone once said, here on on TriumphRat, that some of the circuitry involves more than one fuse, they're wired strangely. Also, some of the switching is in the ground path, not the positive path. That makes it strange if you're used to dealing with house wiring, which is very straightforward.

And the turn signal idiot light passes current both ways, depending on which side is flashing. It grounds through the bulbs that are not flashing. This is one of the issues with putting an LED in this light.
