Saddlebags for Speedmaster

I picked up some nice bags for a great deal - now I am thinking I need the Saddlebag supports. So, I am looking for saddlebag supports for an 07 Triumph Speedmaster, do you know who might carry such an item? I have soft sided bags from RKA (http://www.rka-luggage.com/) thanks, Derrick

I just put some bags on that I bought off e-bay. They are pvc but look like leather and are throw overs. Anyway, I thought I would look for a support bracket to fit. After searching the internet for information I found out that the bracket for a Honda Magna fit perfectly, 5 inches on center. Found a guy on e-bay in Hong Kong (Timmy something) that was selling a new set for $25 plus shipping. They are about $79 new. Everything fit and looks good. Wayne

hey 315...
Let me ask, are the support brackets supposed to bolt on 'inside' the fender? or outside?
Did you get any special hardware to do this job?

thanks

I didn't like the looks of the Triumph ones, got some Virago ones for $10 or so and bent them to fit

Outside. They are not nearly as big as the ones pictured in the thread. Wayne

saddle bag mount

I have the easy bracket mounts but my bags are stiff leather. I like them as they are just two studs extending the fender bolts an extra inch. Most of the time I'm riding without the bags so it looks clean.

If you have access to a torch, some 1/4 in round stock, a hunk of flat stock, a welder, a drill, an angle grinder and a can of spray paint, you can fabricate a set pretty easily. Did that to my speedy to keep the throw overs off the chain guard and rear rotor 'bout a year ago. Don't need a template or anything like that. Just eyeball the bends as ya go on one, then when it's complete, turn it around and copy what ya did for the other side. The advantage (beside being fun) is that you can set you bags with just enough clearance to keep them out of harm's way, but not so much that they stick out too far from the fender.
