thing with fins

hey, Teachnsurf,

It might be fun for you to order a haines manual for your bike, it will help you immesureably to find out what things are and how they work, even for little things like oil changes or lube data....I've found it very handy for working on minor things on the bike, you will usually find that there are many hidden things that you might not notice when working on the bike.
Its an inexpensive bit of insurance and can save you money and time in the long run.
The manuals are available on many websites, just google a search and see what you come up with.
