do the side covers of the thruxton need to be modded/trimmed to get them to fit on?

It is a tight fit, between filters and covers but the FCR carbs fit fine. The Mikuni 42's also fit fine and the Mikunis pull noticably harder.

I posted some pics a few weeks ago regarding remote idle screws on these. They should show the covers over the filters. I have to align my covers on the top 2 pins and then pull the bottom over about half an inch to get the screw to line up with the hole in the frame.
I have K&N RC 1250 filters (came with my BC airbox kit). All filters will have the same problem. It's the base of the filter that just touches the lip of the cover. Fortunately there is a semicircular cutout on the cover right at that point, so it all works.
