dead efi 2008 bonnie
I don't know if these symptoms strike a familiar note with anybody on here but I'm at a complete loss.
The bike was running fine and then parked up. About a week later I went to start it up and it was having none of it.
Switch on the run button and the neutral and oil light come on nice and bright, the fuel pump makes its prime pump noise but when I hit the ignition switch there's a click from the relay under the left panel (starter I presume), but no action from the starter motor. The headlight, rear light, brake light, indicators and horn are also devoid of any activity.
I've pumped the battery up, the earth is a solid connection, checked for dodgy connections on all the light circuits and still no go. Help - it's sunny here and I'm getting bonnie cold-turkey...

That has got to be a fuse, but there is no circuit diagram in the Haynes manual for EFI.
Check Fuse 7(horn) and 10(lights) which are correct for pre EFI models (behind Right hand side panel). One of those must be what they tapped the EFI into.

Are you sure you just don't have a battery with a low charge?

Make sure it's not in gear with the kickstand down.

The battery has been on charge all day. I've replaced all the bulbs and fuses (despite none showing any damage).

Sounds to me like the ignition switch is at fault ..or wiring slightly downstream of that has got some bug. So, there is a difference when you turn the key for sure? Possibly a short in that switch? I'd turn it off and on a few times rapidly just to see if the headlight will come on. I'd spray some silicon lube (WD-40) inside the switch too to remove any moisture. That is one unusual problem. My other step would be to push start it since you have some lights on the panel just to see what's going on. Put it in 2nd or 3rd, pull in the clutch and run. I can bump start my Scrambler at some traffic lights depending on the hill within about a car length.

Try jumpering the solenoid (bike in neutral) with a screwdriver. If that works, then you might have a problem with the starter relay or wiring between the relay and the solenoid. You hear a click when you hit the start button. That is either the relay clicking, indicating no power is getting to the solenoid, or the solenoid clicking, indicating no power is getting to the starter.

Back to the dealer for warranty work. Hopefully not too far away. I'd only try a few obvious things before taking it back, like put a known good battery in it, check the fuses, etc.

I've just tried a battery from a mate's bike. Still no go - I know it was a wild stab in the dark! Guess I'll be ringing the dealer then!
