Unhappy movement in and out of gear selector shaft

I dropped my t100 recently and bent the gear shift slightly I tapped the gear shift peg back on the shaft and I guess a clip or something came loose cause now I have a 1/4 inch play in and out on the shaft. When I pull the shaft out everything works ok if I push it in I can not change gear . Does anyone know what side the problem is on

Thanks for any info

Both sides of the shaft have a clip on both sides, but it sounds like if you hit it on the clutch cover side it pushed the shaft to the right possibly busting that clutch cover clip (left side clip), which makes sense if you push the shaft in (right) and it doesn't engage.

The clutch cover comes off pretty easily but will need a new gasket. There is a right side cover under the sprocket cover that when off exposes the selector mechanics that are connected to the shaft. That clutch cover clip is tucked back by the engine wall and can be tight to get the clip on, probably need a new clip there.

No problem Steve, I actually tweaked my gear selector shaft and have mine disassembled right now awaiting a new shaft so this is pretty fresh in my mind. It isn't very difficult.

Good luck.
