spark plugs at the parts store?

Can I get a replacement for our NGK plugs at an auto parts store to get me by in a pinch? I have auto zone, advance auto parts, O'reilly, Pep Boys, etc. around.

Most of them report not carrying our NGK... anyone with any luck that can share is much appreciated!

I haven't tried I'm afraid. My approach to this is just to keep a spare set on hand, so that I know I have them. I do the same with oil and filters, so I don't get caught without.

Very common plug- avail @ all auto stores! I ordered a set from NB for $2.50 some time back. They are still siting on the shelf! The orig ones still are rite on! Have em just in case- but you shouldnt need them for quite some time unless something goes arawy? W gas being what it is (as in who knows?) they might come in handy>?

Are you getting the NGK BCE 015 standard plugs or something else? Can you tell me what you are asking for at the parts stores if not that plug (make/part no.) Seems like some have trouble referencing motorcycle parts - or act as if they do. I am most appreciative (you've helped me before with other posts, I'm sure!)

That's because they can't look up m/c parts in their computer.I work in an auto parts store,so I know. NGK doesn't sell their plugs by the ID# like BCE015 or B7ES.They sell them by a 4 digit stock number, like 2287 or 3262 or something like that. So,if you call them up and ask for a BCE015,it won't go into the computer as a good number. However,if you ask them to cross reference that number to something you can use,and they come up with an NGK stock number, chances are, when they go back to the shelf, and pull that number,it will say BCE015 right on it.

I am not familiar with that BCE 015 plug number.* I believe the correct NGK number for our bikes is DPR8EA-9. The NGK stock number for that plug is 4929. If your local parts store does not stock the plugs, they can(probably)have them overnight for you, but be prepared to buy at least 4 plugs. NGK boxes their plugs in either boxes of 4,or boxes of 10. Lots of stores won't order in 4 or 10 plugs that they will never sell again, just to sell 2.

*Please correct me if I'm wrong about that plug number.I only pretend to know everything!

Cheers!
Bruce
