Help!!!
On June 20, 2008 my wife, fresh from her motorcycle safety class, dropped my bike which bent the clutch lever. “No biggee”, I say. “I am just excited she finally has her “M” endorsement and is taking motorcycling seriously.” So, I proceeded to bend the shifter back to an acceptable position and once finished tackled the clutch. The clutch snapped in two pieces and my dilemma for parts began.
Being late on Friday and my dealership closed, I chose to order my clutch lever from BikeBandit.com. (remember its June 20, 2008). On Wednesday, July 09, 2008, my clutch lever came in the mail. I raced home on my wife’s newly purchased UM 250cc motorcycle, ran inside the house, ripped open the newly delivered package……wrong part. Uggh! Bikebandit is telling me that the part should work and all I need to do is go to the dealership to “get the necessary modifications” to my bike. My mechanic said the rep is “retarded and should stick to selling parts not providing service recommendations” and transferred me to parts to which I gave my credit card number to purchase my new part.
I called up my dealer yesterday (July 10, 2008) and the part still hasn’t been ordered! The guy in parts told me the order will take one week to deliver once they get the order submitted but they “lost their password” to the online ordering system and therefore have been unable to order the clutch. Sounds like BS to me but what am I going to do?!?
So, here is my question to the forum: Is there an aftermarket vendor that makes clutch/brake (I will likely have to purchase both if I go this route) levers for a 2005 speedmaster?
Thanks in advance
Kevin…
PS: My buddy who rides his goldwing is laughing his butt off at me for purchasing a Euro bike. Being an x-motorcycle mechanic he told me this type of stuff would happen and I should have purchased a Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, kawasaki, or Harley. It’s a shame for Triumph because numerous people in my group are in the market for a new bike and none of them are considering anything euro because of how long my bike has been down.

at first read, I was thinking find another parts dealer. But you let a clutch lever side line a bike for over a year! that is just wrong! I would not have let it go a month without some follow up.
have you checked the classified in this forum for anyone parting out a bike? ebay? aftermarket?

There are numerous web based suppliers here in UK who sell after-market accessories such as brake and clutch levers, and even supply on next-day delivery.
Surely there must be in USA too?
Was it a typo or did you REALLY wait a year for a replacement?!! Surely your bike wasn't off the road for all that time?!!

I used to use Bike Bandit for a Suzuki I owned but they clearly state Triumph parts will take a lot longer to order, presumably Triumph wants the business for themselves.
My suggestion is to contact Pure Triumph Ft Lauderdale and have them drop ship you the part. They can get items from Atlanta in three days, two weeks max if it comes from the UK. Or take the old clutch and get it welded by a competent alumin welder while you wait for your dealer to do the obvious.

Geez. There are several good dealers who sell over the web/phone. Call one-get to know the guy-and do some business. Our dealer stocks levers and such as normal business. I know the'd sell you one over the phone-or try MADSS. As for the European bike thing-please. Get new friends!

Hey Kev, I have a spare clutch lever left over from my 05 Speedmaster.
Let me know if you're interested.

Take it to a Honda and/or Kawasaki dealer and ask to match it. I haven't done that, but others have.

Thanks Kevin! Recieved the clutch in the mail yesterday, placed it on the bike and am back riding something other than my wife's 250cc scoot! I mailed a money order out yesterday so you should get it tomorrow.
by the way, enjoyed your Vic goodies you placed in the bag. lol
