Okay, got the old badges of but not without a hassle and sore fingertips. I used a little dental floss and a little fishing line, got it under the edge of the old badge and sawed back a forth a little. They are on there really good. The floss and the fishing line help to get some of the stickum off, but the trick is to get your fingertips underneath and pry like hell. The badge is plastic but it is sturdy enough to withstand the pressure it takes to overcome the stickum and pull the badge off, but be careful and no jerking motions.
Once they are off, unless you are super lucky, you will frown, for before you will be big hunks of super sticky grey other-worldly foamy adhesive. This stuff could stick a space shuttle to your grandma. Get however much of this you can off by peeling/picking/rolling/kneeding/pushing/cursing. At this point, I used Goo-Off (
http://img.epinions.com/images/opti/...resized200.jpg) on a rag (cotton and microfiber, both) to thoroughly soak the sticky and wipe it a little. After it has soaked in some, it will become more gooey and will succumb to the torturous forces of your iron fingers o' fury. Roll it around, pick it off, and once it is almost completely clean, use a clean portion of your rag soaked with a little Goof-Off to clean the area thoroughly and remove any last remnants of adhesive. Now don't get me wrong, this job is not impossible. But don't expect to get it done in less than an hour. Very good feeling once it's over though! And the tank looks killer badgeless by the way. Can't believe Triumph couldn't just use the screw holes in the tank and put a decent cast badge on it to begin with.
I took some pics and will post them as soon as I get home.
