zrx shocks on a bonneville

i've read in an earlier post that kawa zrx shocks are an easy swap for the thrux stock shocks (say that 5 times fast). ...but bonneville shocks are somewhat shorter than the thrux shocks - would the zrx swap be as easy? is anyone using these zrx shocks on their bonneville currently? i'd like to hear your experience.

also - what's a reasonable price to pay for used zrx shocks?

thanks,
~m

A friend of mine did the ZRX swap since he was always bottoming out his stockers ( A new Bonnie's suspension's as if it's set for a 120lbs person) for the ZRX and the they work awesome . I test rode his Bonnie after he put ZRX rears and Triaxxis front springs and it totally changed the feel of the bike . Totally blown away.
Only mod is to change the lower bushing on the shock .
Normal price is in the low 200$ for a decent set but the price has been climbing since the word got out I guess.

The additional length of the Thruxton-sized shock actually creates more ground clearance and sharpens up the steering on a Standard or T100 Bonnie. The only downside is slightly more seat height. I used Ikon 7614s in the Thruxton length. I'm sure you can expect similar gains with the ZRX dampers...

That was probably my response in another thread. If I remember correctly, the thruxton shocks are 20mm longer than the regular bonnie's shocks. Generally, this will quicken the steering. The big benefit is the added control the ZRX shock gives, especially if the rider has a few more pounds than the waif that Triumph used to set up the standard suspension.

The prices on eBay for ZRX shocks seem to be all over the place. I got lucky and paid $140 shipped. Just setup a saved search on eBay and look closely at the condition since some of the parts appeared to be very used when I was looking.

i'm in brooklyn - i'm all of 150 lbs - but, man, i've almost been thrown off my bike going over the bumps on the highways here... scary. i hope the zrx's will improve that. will i necessarily have to change my front suspension if i swap the rears for the zrx shox?

I hear ya - the Chicago streets are similar... Have to? Nah. Want to? Maybe. Since you're lighter than I am, the front end probably isn't as mushy as I found it, along with a lot of dive. I'd say improve one bit at a time. Good luck!
