my throttle grip is loose, what is the cause/fix?

hi all. i am new to this still, so maybe this is normal, but on my 08 bonny there seems to be an unusual amount of movement from the throttle grip before the throttle is engaged. when i say movement, i am talking back and forth along the handlebars and clockwise/counterclockwise. is this normal? how can i adjust it so it isn't like that? it is not affecting performance it is just an annoyance. i noticed in the manual it talks of freeplay in the throttle. is this what it is talking about? thanks, keith

Adjust the throttle play at the 2 cables that come out at the bars off the throttle. You need more tension on the return cable.I think that is the front cable. Just undo the lock nut then screw the adjuster out to take up some slack, then retighten the lock nut.
