My suggestion would be to go through AHRMA120's list, point by point, every single one of them, with the dealer.

I think he knows what he's talking about.

That list is great info.

I'm with you, but they aren't going to want to pay for it, you know? I think I'm still going to have to get Triumph involved; it sounds more likely that they will authorize warranty hours if I lodge a complaint. The dealer is acting kind of like his hands are tied.

It's like this:

It doesn't seem too bad at first, but after a whole afternoon's ride you feel like your wrists are sprained.

Daz,

Had a cyclic vibration start when my rear tire was to the wear bars. Replaced tire, vibration gone.

Dangermouse,

I wasn't aware of the distance issue. I understand more clearly why your so pissed.
Still, with the trouble so obvious, why doesn't the dealer just buckle down and fix the bloody thing. As I previously stated, this isn't that hard to figure out. With understanding the distance complication, you would think they could give your trouble a little more attention.

P.S. I still think its bad rubber.

Yup, like i said, bike tires are wierd ! Now check this out....i had a new rear metzler sitting here for the last week and today i had time to bring the wheel in and have it installed. My old rear was also to the wear bars by the way. Got on the bike with the new rear and guess what....a hint of that that vibe is back ! I am not ****ing you ! It's actually not cyclic this time, it's like that stretched chain feel where you get that sort of grinding vibration. But it's very subtle and mainly in low gears at very slow speed, and it's more constant then cyclic. but it's subtle enough to where it's hard to tell. But it goes to show how hard it is to troubleshoot tracking issues. I suspect tho that this issue will subside as the tire breaks in a bit.

But now for the thing that shows how truly bizarre bike tire issue are..........my headshake is now 90% gone ! So now i gotta figure it WASN'T just the front tire wear that caused all of them to do it after a while. But the wear COMBINED with the state the rear is in ! Wacky s**t man, just wacky !

DM,
Had a speed-centric vibration like (video in #34) that on my T-300 Trophy, turned out to be a spun bearing on the speedo drive side of the front hub.

Doesn't fit with your experience if you swapped front assembly's already, but worth noting anyways.

Good luck,

Andrew

Daz,

Mate that sounds to me like it might be a chain tension issue - what do you guys think?

Not sure if you are talking about my issue with the cyclic vibes or the latest with the new rear. But no, the chain isn't a issue. in fact, I replaced the chain and sprockets before i did anything else when i had that issue a year or so ago. It was indeed the tire because as i said when i replaced it the issue went away. Before i replaced the tire i did everything, and i mean EVERYTHING you could ever dream up as even the most onscure possibility. even replaced the wheel bearings. This latest thing is just the tire being new i'm sure because it's VERY subtle, plus it started the instant i had the new tire installed. I'm telling you, bike tires are tricky, and i'm beginning to suspect metzlers are prone to issues like this. They're great tires otherwise, but they seem to cause a lot of wierd issues.

I'm with Russ , mine has the same problem . Has anyone discussed the rim itself ie its not "true" ?
As for comments made that it is the rider changing direction etc that can create the shake , mine occurs in a straight line.

cheers Staf

My rim looks true -- that's the first thing I thought of, actually.
