Time to synch the carbs?

2002 T100, 8500 miles, unaltered other than cosmetic.

I'm getting a little popping from the exhaust at slack throttle and feeling some tiny surges and lags when cruising (more noticeable at low RPMs). Is this due to the carbs coming out of synch?

If so, it's time I started doing this myself. If anybody has recommendations on synch tools I'd like to hear them.

synch the carbs, that's definitely worth doing, but the popping is more likely to be caused by leaks in the exhaust system. Check your clamp bolts at the cylinder head joint and where the muffler joins the headers. There's also a joint between the two headers underneath the bike.

Also check the vacuum caps on the intake boots.

TwinMax

TwinMax synchronizer. Easy to use, no mercury, $100.

If you want to keep it inexpensive, search for the homemade carb synchronizers.

synch

a symptom of carbs out of synch is engine vibration.
