What After Market Exhaust Did You Buy?

Please post links to the sites where you bought your aftermarket exhaust for your bonnevilles. Put what you bought, where you bought it and how you like it. Also please rate the loudness of your new pipes on a scale of 1 to 10.

also I would love to see a picture of link to a video if you have one.

OK, this is the second thread you have started on aftermarket pipes.
You (hopefully) have reviewed the sticky on exhausts.

What information are you missing to help you make your decision?
If we knew, we might be able to help you.

The other thread was being taken over by people talking dyno charts and other stuff off topic. Many people gave partial information and I am trying to get the complete picture. They may say what they have but not where they got it, or how they like it, or how loud it is.

As you know, a lot of people talk smack it seems about that which they do not own. So I wanted a thread where those who have done it can talk about what they have done, where they got it, how loud it is and how they like it.

I am looking for an exhaust that has a throaty growl, louder than stock pipes but not so loud I need ear plugs to ride. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would like a 7.

Part of the problem is that most of us haven't heard many different exhausts, so it's hard to rate them on a non-validated scale like 1-10.

I do think the youtube videos gives you a good indication of tone.

That being said
I got my NH Togas from newbonneville (they were back ordered, took about a month to get them).

You will need to rejet. With the stock set up, it was backfiring and popping like crazy. I'm bordering on being a mechanical moron, but I managed to get them on. I got it rejetted at the dealer.

I am quite happy with them. If I had to guess, I think they probably are about a 7 out of 10.

I don't need to ride with earplugs, unless I'm travelling outside the city, and then I wear them to keep out the wind noise.

I can get on or off my street at late hours without worrying about the neighbors, keeping the revs down.

I haven't heard of anyone regretting buying Togas.

Hope this helps.

Rizzo,

I certainly understand your concern regarding your decision on what exhaust to go with. It’s one of the most critical and potentially one of the most expensive mods you’ll be faced with. There’s no doubt that the stock silencers are too quiet.

The first thing to determine is what style of pipes you want… classic peashooter or reverse cone. Most people stay with the classic retro look and that’s probably why there are many peashooter style exhausts to choose from. Norman Hyde Togas or Triumph off-road mufflers (TORs) are both excellent choices if that’s the style you’re looking for. I'd rate the Togas a level 5 (out of 10) and give the TORs a level 3.

I personally wanted a reverse cone type (that looks more like what comes stock on a Thruxton). And because it’s such a critical mod I decided to go with what’s considered by many to be the best… Staintunes. They are louder than the stock mufflers and even a little louder than the Triumph off-road exhaust, but not by much. The thing I like most about them is that under normal riding conditions they are only about a level 4 but accelerating under a load they are closer to a level 8. And if judged on tone, they are no doubt (in my mind) the best sounding mufflers. http://www.newbonneville.com/html/staintune_exhaust.html

Here’s a short and poor quality clip I took of my Staintunes under no load. Following that is a longer and much better clip taken by member Stoogsy.

Rizzo,

No problem... you're welcome. I'm curious to know if you're looking for classic style or reverse cone exhaust. Right now there's (what appears to be) a good deal on a set of TORs in the classified section.
