Unhappy Dropped it.

Let my mom ride the bike yesterday. She went down to the end of the road and went to turn around in a parking lot with an odd dip at the end and lots of loose gravel. Long story short, out slipped her leg and down goes the bike. Freaked me out to see my mom fall on a motorcycle, but she's OK. Still trying to convince her I'm not mad.
Damage to the bike was a broken clutch lever(POS). and a tiny dent where the clutch perch hit the tank. Any Ideas for new lever? Are there any levers from other bikes that fit the bonneville? Also has anyone tried to fix a dent in the tank?

The clutch lever is designed to break, it has a notch in it, to stop the shock of the fall from transferring to the rest of the bike. Myself i would replace with a genuine one!

no problem

I dumped my new bonnie a few weeks ago when a rabid looking dog jumped out to say 'hi'. Broke the clutch peg, too. It costs about $12 to fix. Get out your allen 'tool' and take off the clutch from the frame and have the shop replace it on there. If you know how to back out the busted bolt, go for it, but it is a pain. Bummer about the tank, maybe its an excuse to get a new '68 tank?

I dropped my 95 Tbird in the shop some years back and put a narge in the tank about the size of a half dollar. It made me sick because it was a rare black cherry and creme with the hand painted pin stripes. I took it to a painter here (southern IL) who specialized in motorcycles. He had a device that had spherical balls on various lengths of steel rod he used to pound out the dent from the inside. It wasn't perfect, but you can only notice it if the light is just right and you are looking at it from the correct angle, pretty good, and he wouldn't take any money for the job since it wasn't perfect.

I would think in FLA you could find a number of folks who paint bikes.

Good luck!

Thumbs up

I went to the sarasota dealership Haps Cycle. They didn't have a clutch lever in stock so they sold me one right off of a bike on the showroom floor. Awesome service at Haps, I can't say anything bad about em'! As for my dent I think I will just roll with it for a while.
