Vacuum take-off
Three times in the last 7,000 miles the vacuum take-off hose on the left carb has come off its connector resulting in the engine breathing air and stalling.
The first two times happened on the same day, once after fueling and again, 100 miles later, after being parked up for 30 minutes.
The third time, months later, happened just after fueling and, most embarrassingly, right in front of the gorgeous, curvy, young thing who'd just ridden her shiny red, clean, Ducati monster onto the forecourt wearing tight-fitting Repsol coloured racing leathers with hair dyed to match - but I digress ...
The hose isn't secured to the bottom connector in any way, it's just pushed over the lip (it is now cos I've fixed it with a cable tie). I've looked at several other Bonnies and none of them has it secured either so it's not that my clip came off at some point, there wasn't one in the first place.
I'm puzzled. 3 times in 7000 miles is a pretty rare event but why would it happen at all?
Have others suffered in this way and if so with what frequency?
