So, the service manual says my next oil change isn't until 6000 mi or one year....Should I change sooner than this? I got the scheduled 500mi change...Also, if I do change it ahead of the 6000 mi, will I void the warrenty?

Here we go again!

I change once a year, which is more or less 3000 miles for me. I use a Purolator Pure One 14612 filter and Amsoil Motorcycle 20W50. Other people do differently, just search for some oil threads.

I can't imagine that changing your oil more frequently than recommended would violate the warranty.
