New to the Forum - Couple Tech Q's
Hey whats up im new to the forum just bought my 01 America in February. Already put over 3000 miles on it. Love the bike but seems there is not much aftermarket support. Hope you guys can help.
1. Does someone make a oil temp gauge for my twin or can anyone recommend something i can make fit?
2. Has anyone removed the airbox and single filter under the seat in favor of a smaller duel filter design like the older triumphs? Or am i just asking for maintainance and tuning issues?

Better stay with the single filter. If you get duel filters, they will fight with each other all of the time. Now, some dual filters might be OK.

Seems New Bonneville and/or Bella Corse both have the oil temp guage. They fit in place of the filler cap.
Dual filters, airbox removal etc, also check out the above sites. Might be new america .... they are linked.
Glad you like the bike, welcome!

As far as installing a filter kit would i be sacrificing driveability for increaced power? You know damage from rain or road spray?

Freak!
Do a search for freak kits. There is a lot of info available that will answer your questions.

None of those guys who answered you are vendors. At least, not of the products they recommended. You owe them an apology.
You want some feedback? OK.Yes,you open the filters up to the elements, but very few people are reporting any problems, except those that are riding in heavy rain.Maintain them properly, and you'll be OK.
As long as you get it tuned, and jetted correctly, you will not lose any rideability,in fact, you will gain some torque, and horsepower throughout the rev-range.
Those oil temp gauges that fit in the filler hole work very well, but you don't really need one.
Now,you want some advise? Forget it.Your bike is just a cruiser.Get some loud pipes, and go with that. If you wanted to go fast, you should have bought a Speed Triple. If you want to dump 7 or 8 grand into your engine, you might be able to get 80-85 HP out of it,and then some squid with a Jap 600 is still going to smoke your ass. Sorry.

CommandoRdster i wasnt refering to the people who replied. You know how it goes you call those places and all they want is to sell you there product.
But thanks for the info. Im not looking to make the bike a screamer i just wanted it to be a little bit custom. It still doesnt feel like my bike, it feels like the factories bike. I've already made a bag kit for it and made a different pillion fit for my girls comfort on the back. Maybe a couple performance mods will help.
As far as the temp gauge goes i rode through Mohave desert a couple weeks back on a road trip, i was guessing if the bike was hot or not. Fairly cheap upgrade.
