Bonneville-Signal Flasher Problem

The turn flashers on my 2007 Bonneville stopped working entirely, front and back. I took the leftside panel off and discovered the relay was no longer attached to anything, was upside down, and partly filled with water. I assume that's the problem, so I took it off and am drying the whole thing out. (There's a rubber piece that appears to have broken, leaving the little box unattached and therefore vulnerable.) Anyway, while I was in the guts of the electrics, I noticed another wire and gizmo that was also flopping around. (See the photo of the item on top of the air filter.) Anyone know what that is and if it's supposed to be plugged into something? Seems odd. Anything anyone knows would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thumbs up Signals

Yeah the rubber bands that Triumph uses must be made outa 20 yr old rubber! Shouldnt be using rubber bands anyway!! Do yourself a BIG safety advantage- Replace the soggy flasher w/ a signal minder & use a wire tie to secure it. It well might save your life some day!! Mine has!! The best $99 I have spent on the Bonne!!

Yeah, I was looking at those signal minders. I might get one. Any idea what that other wire is in my photo? Shouldn't that be connected to something?

Keep the rotten rubber on it as a sort of cushion and wire-tie it to the bracket. Works well, won't let go.

Hard to tell from your photo, but my guess would be the thermostat for the carb heaters.

Hmmm ... I had the airbox removed earlier this year, and I wonder if the shop forgot to reattach the wires/clip that's shown in my photo. I dug around in there and couldn't see a place to reconnect it. If I don't have the airbox anymore, should these wires still be clipped onto something? I live in New York, where it can get freezing in the winter, of course, so I'm concerned that the carb heaters aren't connected, if that's indeed the case.

IF it is the thermostat for the carb heaters, it used to be (physically) attached to the side of the airbox. It's probably still connected electrically, and doing it's job of switching on the carb heaters at temps below 10C, but it would be better mounted to something, rather than just hanging there. The carb heaters themselves are connected by the two wires by the float bowl of each carb.
