Fall Damage

While trailering my bike home from Deals Gap, I had a ratchet strap break and the bike fell over on the trailer. The only damage was to a cooling fin on the cylinder head, a small piece broke off. I have ridden the bike and looked it over and have no leaks in the area of the damage. Can it be repaired and how.

Hello, sorry to hear about you tip over! You could have it TIG welded (aluminum) at a welding shop and then use a Dremel tool to grind and sand the weld bead smooth.

Alternately, you could try some JB Weld putty...just mix it up and apply it to both broken edges, press it together and make up some cardboard spacers and supports to hold it there overnight. You can scrape away any excess putty before it hardens. It should not be too noticeable, and you might just want to sand it, and then hit it with some hi-temp paint to match the original finish. JB weld will work at temps up to 500 deg F! Your cooling fins should be under 300 deg F tops.

Just some suggestions, anyway.

Cheers, and Good Luck!
