Fuel taps

OK, I'm sick of the leaky tap on my Bonnie (it's in the living room at the moment, and stinking the house up! - wifey is away...). What's the story on these pingel taps from NB? I've heard mixed reports of them not fitting directly, being faulty themselves etc - any comments from anyone would be helpful, thanks - cheers Pat

If you find out let me know. Mine was leaking and was replaced under warranty. Now it feels like it has a "notch" in in when I turn it on.

gas cock

I would think that the valve is ok. Mostlikely the leak is from the seal between the gas tank and the cock not the cock. If it wasn't cleaned properly and tightened properly the gasket or sealent pinched in a bad way. Someone was in a hurry when thay put the part on and might not of let the sealent dry properly. Raw gas would be the enemy to most any sealants as it is trying to cure or those are crappy parts.
best wishes

I would recommend replacing the stock petcock with the Pingle. I replaced mine about 3 years ago and haven't had a problem since. It also operates much smoother and looks better in my opinion.
You could also purchase some Hylomar which is a gasket material that will stand up to any petroleum product and which remains flexible. We use it on our jet engines and fuel controlers at work and it comes in a tube. As a matter of fact, if you decide to purchase the Pingel through Newbonneville.com, a small packet of Hylomar is included with the gasket and spacer. I use it for many applications on my bike because it also has a high temperature rating.

Spraying the petcock with w/d 40 once in a while makes it work better. Odd, mine is an 01 and I have not had any issues.
