TOR gutting is NOT fun!

While my friend worked on my front end suspension, I spent a rainy day in the garage at the back end of my bike banging away at the insides of my TORS exhaust. I now have a really bashed thumb whose nail, no doubt, I'm gonna lose and an exhaust still full of bashed up crap. I did a real # on both ends of the exhaust and wound up exhausted myself. In the end I was able to drive a heavy metal cone shaped wedgy thingy deep enough in so that there was enough space for proper exhaust flow, so was able to ride the thing home.

My plan: sick of banging away inside these mufflers so, I'm gonna lete my friend saw through the wide part near the intake end, take everything left inside out and have another guy weld it back together. I don't know if the TORS are stainless, if so, the weld mark might not be so noticeable, if not, then I'm gonna paint the entire length black including headers.

Did I mention my thumb hurts!

I thought someone else posted on another thread that TORs are straight open as is, as they can see right through it. What gains are you hoping to accomplish? I know many on here have experimented w/ their exhausts with varying degrees of success

Good luck, and get some ice

Next time get a set of Togas as the rear baffle is removable, and they are straight through to begin with

TORs or stock exhaust are not stainless. They are mild steel, chrome plated. Don't know what grade of steel - doesn't really matter.

Your friend will be able to weld them, but you will either have to have them blasted and chrome plated again - or paint them, or alternatively ceramic coated or something.

I'm assuming that they are not really TORs, since the TORs are already straight through. Or are you trying to remove all the packing in the bulge for some reason?

they are real tors. There is a baffle in the end that came out pretty easily. but there's an inner sleeve surrounded by fiberglass that i'm trying to get out. Began this project when sweatmachine told me that uzib(something, can't remember his full name here) gutted his tors. I pm'd him and he said that his tors sound great gutted, so i began.

I will eithe ceramic coat or do what Sweat did and use several layers of bbq paint after they have their operation/
