Float bowl fuel levels

How to check?
I've attached a U tube to the drain outlet and observed the fuel level once the fuel was turned back on, is this a good method?
Are there other methods other than carb removal?

Thanks

I think you're doing all you can do without removing carbs and doing some physical measurements of the float as it is in the closed position.

PS - I'm sure my bike is slightly off when it comes to fuel levels. Expecially when I cold- start the bike. If she starts to slow down and attempts to quit, slightly shaking the bike right to left (to right, ie sloshing fuel around in the float bowls), causes the idle to pick up. This odd characteristic has eliminated the need for multiple starts, stops, and restarts, when the bike is cold.

according to page 9.32 in the Good Book, you can use the technique you employed in conjunction with a "fuel level gauge part #3880125-T0301". The fuel level should be 2mm +/- 1mm above the float chamber mating surface. there's something new for you to buy...

FWIW...I've done a bunch of mods to my Bonnie and she starts right up...first time every time. I have found however that after a few minutes she starts to sounds as if she's starving a bit on the right. Since I changed the rear suspension, she leans hard left on the side stand. My solution...I sit on her and keep her up right. The idle smooths right out and she's good to go.

Cheers,

SK
