when to add mods

purchasing a t-100 next week. Plan on a box removal , new mufflers and rejet. The dealer said that I should wait until the 500 mile mark before doing the mods. Is this correct? Any suggestions for saddle bags that are good quality and can be easil removed. Single seat as replacement? manufacturer?

Thumbs up Ah yes...a new member!

Hello and welcome to the family (dysfunctional as we may be). Congtrat's on your new bike. You'll love it as we all love ours I'm sure. You'll get lots of opinions about your question... and here's one now. It's probably not necessary to wait for a 500 mile break in to start the mods that you mentioned. Several RAT's have had pipes and re-jet done at the dealer, prior to delivery. I'd like to say that since you'll no doubt soon realize the garbage quality of the suspension, why not start there? I've done about a thousand mods to mine and although I love them all; if I had it to do over, I'd start with the suspension. Let the modding begin!

Cheers,

SK

I think it's a good idea to ride it a while. This gives you an opportunity to appreciate the the improvement (or not) that the mods make, and it also gives you a shakedown period to deal with any warranty issues that might come up. Your dealer's advice is good.

Arrow Why Wait?

I had the whole British Customs Basic Performance Kit, Nology Coil & Wires, and a pair of Iridium plugs slapped on my bike the second she was uncrated! I regret not one penny spent on her; She regrets not one modification done to her!

My bike is really running better and better. Got about thousand miles on it.
I did pipes/ jets/ ai removal at about 500. Now its fast , but not too fast if you know what I mean. In the old days this would have been called a fast bike. Fast being, easily hits the ton and pulls nice and hard on a backroad straightaway. At about 1000 miles it seemed the bike got faster and better sounding.
