Last Tuesday I finally stopped putting it off and went out and bought a Sears Motorcycle/ATV Jack (89.95 + tax). Then this afternoon I took the plunge

It was time to remove my fork tubes for rebuilding

Armed with my Haynes Service manual, and the appropriate printed pages (off the computer) from the Triumph manual I headed to the basement.
An hour later the fork tubes were laying on my bench ready to go to Rick Tannenbaum at Cogent Dynamics. Rick is going to rebuild them to my weight and riding style instead of a one size fits all spring replacement. Then match the shocks to my weight and the new forks. Will post as to what he used when get them back (He told me over the phone last week but being old and senile I forgot

)
I do not know if anyone has done this before, but I kept reading about securing the headlight assembly so the rubber spacers do not fall out . Well what I did was to cut 2 pieces of PVC pipe which was about the same size as the fork tubes, ran the PVC pipe back up the yoke holes and secure them in place. Now the headlight assembly can't move.
I hope to have it all back together by Friday. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. (Hmmmm what page was the air box removal on

)
