Bonnie Black needs more juice...

So I've had my bike for a few weeks now, put almost 200 miles on it and while I would definitely say that i LOVE this bike - I would also say that it needs some more juice. I feel like it has potential, which is one of the reasons I was initially attracted to it. The Bonneville is like a blank canvas and can be tailored to whatever type of riding one has in mind.

With that said - I figured it was worthwhile to ask you good folks the best ways to get a little more pep out the bike, increase hp, high end, low end etc. and what mods should be done in what order.

Also looking to find out which mods offer the most hp gain for least effort. In other words, I can bore out the engine - but that's a huge effort, but I can also lose the airbox, rejet and swap out the exhaust and headers - thats lower effort...

I'm interested in what you guys suggest - what are the best / most effective ways to turn the bonne into a fire breather?

1st: pipes and airbox elim, w/ a rejet of course.
then, if you want more (you will) look at 904 (or bigger) and then either the BP HSR 42mm carb kit or the Keihin flatslide kit. It's a good combo.

Im in the same boat. Bought the bonnie black last week, I absolutely love the bike but I feel like it could use a little more punch. I think I am going to rock the British Customs performance package. Predator pipes air injection removal and air box removal. Then do a rejet too.

I noticed you are a creative director out in LA. What line of work are you in? Im an animator in postproduction freelancing on the westside.

Thumbs up Bonne/ Juice

If these are new bikes- Break them in 1st!! Then they will run a lot better. Thats the time to start making them "Breath Fire"!! For starters- Take off the snork & open the "D" screw a 1/2 turn or better. Gut the baffles (free) & get rid of all that Cali pollution crap!!!!
Once there- there are a lot of options. Depends where you want to go & how far!
My 04 790 seems to have some extra "git" cams maybe? Got some minor mods, & will hold its own w/ an 07 865 w/ some more mods. I am gonna go a little farther on perf , & then do the handling route! The bike is fast enuff for me now & I will get a little bit more from her. I want to do the progressive springs, new rear shocks & some Pirelli Demons. That oughta do it for me besides what I have done so far. The now famous saying- "Id rather have a bike that I have to try to make go faster - than a bike I have to try to make go slower"! I can hold my own w/ the best of them (cars). Crotch rockets- a different story!
Dont want to be there!! Too much potential trouble w/ the flashing lights!! Break em in & go from there. The Bonne can go from the stock 65 HP to 120++. Ill take the lower end of the scale & be ridin @ 100000 mi smilin all the way!! Ride safe!

if you guys are in cali, you might just want to hit up triumph performance. they are based out of there too. they have the TPUSA power pack with airbox eliminator, air injection eliminator and dominator exhaust.

might be able to save some money on handling by heading over there to pick it up.

word.

+1000 on the British Customs Basic Performance Package. I had that slapped on my Black as soon as she was uncrated and I have never regretted a single penny spent! It is a real complete package that will yield you quick HP!

I was thinking the same thing, i have a Scrambler and like it but often thought of getting an 06 blue speed triple, stock form it has like 130HP and weighs less than our bikes. Triple the HP, ligher, 155 more CC's. Now thats one fast ride Im sure.

I wonder if guys who have S3's mod them as much as Bonne owners do. I cant imagine anyone saying i only have 130HP, EFI, dual discs, brembos but i want 150HP....

I considered the S3 before I bought my bonnie and don't regret the choice I made at all. My last bike was a Ducati S2R 1000 (90hp) and was fast as hell. I'm not looking for sportbike performance - but can't believe that a ~900cc engine can't be coaxed into producing a bunch more kick.

One of the main reasons I went with the Bonnie was that it's still a machine (not a computer) so I can work on it and mod it myself without a degree in computer programming or a bunch of special tools.
