6 Speed gearbox anyone

As I promised a long time ago here is a six speed box with the standard five speed

As you can see there is not alot of work involved fitting a six speed box

5 & 6 speed layshafts together

5 & 6 Speed mainshafts

5 & 6 speed gearboxs together

Extra gear hits cases

5 & 6 speed gearboxs together

Now I have made a direct comparision, I am sure a six speed box can be fitted, this will probably involve fitting the six speed clutch WHICH DOES NOT LINE UP with the bonneville parts

If I was not time poor and in a better financial situation I am sure I could get the 6 speed box to fit

Some more pictures

The crank pictures are not for publication

It looks great Phil! I think you have it, do the shift forks line up when you mate the cases back together?

I think other problems will be the layshaft different the main shaft 3mm short. alot of work would be involved but I am sure someone with access to the right equipment could squeeze the extra gear in

If you can ever prove it is possible, and that the quality of the gear shifting is not affected, then I hope the aftermarket niche market will eventually swallow it up..its the one and only thing that is missing on my bike, a nice overdrive combined with stock front sprocket with no compromises....id be in heaven!!

Can you believe that Mrs Hedge, who knows absolutely nothing about motorcycles, said to me after the end of a 4 hour beautiful country ride, "This bike seems like it could use another gear!" I $hit you not my brother RAT's!

I have an imaginary 6th gear on my Thrux. As i'm scootin down the highway full throttle and grab my clutch lever and slap the shifter with my foot and then release the clutch lever and think to myself "you're a dumbass."
