Back in Business, well, almost....
So I went down for knee surgery on April 2 and have been unable to ride since, so I thought it would be a good time to have my covers powder-coated, I just got them back yesterday and they turned out great, except for one issue, there is all kinds of over-spray on the inside of the cam cover (I put it next to the Clutch cover for comparison):
My knee is just feeling well enough for riding so I was hoping to get it back together this weekend and I am curious as to whether the over-spray will mess up the motor..... Thoughts?

As long as the overspray isn't loose and flaking or isn't piled up where the seal goes, there's no problem. Many engine builders (such as Ben Watson in "Pro Engine Blueprinting" http://www.enthusiastbooks.com/si/35172.html ) recommend painting the inside of engines to better seal castings. Good powder coating should be better than paint.

If it was my bike I would pour some brake cleaner on the inside of the cover and if the paint DIDN'T come off I would clean up the residue and install. Of course if anything came off I would do my best to clean off all the paint.
Unless it is powder coated I wouldn't risk having paint flaking off and possably plugging an oil passage. My 2 cents.

Black Thrux,
I made THE cardinal error in taking off my covers to have them powder coated. I didn't document/take pictures.
Could you please document putting the covers back. The clutch cover shift lever (and associated spring), i am having trouble with. Any help would be much appreciated.

Luckily, no overspray made it to the garage floor!

I actually already reassembled the clutch cover but haven't put it back on the bike yet, if the problem is what I think it is, that spring on the clutch shaft, there is a hole at the bottom of the shaft that the spring fits into, easiest to do if you turn the cover upside down and insert the shaft while it is upside down, that way the spring won't fall off the shaft.
If thats not the problem let me know and I will take photos of the rest of the reassembly
