Thruxton Twin Disc Spoked Wheel

Well after alot of time thinking and asking questions (sorry Sweetmachine).
This is where my Thruxton is going

So far fitted 904cc, larger valves, head work,

And here the front end,

Work left is the new spindle, mill out the top tree, so it will sits lower, Steering stops.

then general tarting around with it.

Had to tell someone after taking this photo, Getting so excited little bits of wee where leaking out opps

Just want to say a big thanks to Sweatmachine even know i did not use the SV650 parts. You took alot of time out to help with all your emails, cheer mate.

Cheers Darkdog

Why no facts?

OK, it is a good looking upgrade, but why not say what exact brand and model these forks and brakes are from? Is this a relatively easy swap or not? Facts please.

Ok OK twist my arm.

This has taking alot of time to sort out, Afew parts where got, just to do the maths and work out the best way to go.

Basic list is

Truimph thunderbird sport wheel, ( hard as hen teeth to find second hand)
£500 off triumph.
Truimph thunderbird sport brake disc's ( again hard to get. Got for 30 pounds ebay)
T595 forks (pre 2002) got mine for 150 pounds ( took time to find a nice set
T595 Cailpers ( 25 pounds)

Custom parts

Triple trees
Spindle
wheel spacers
Axle + nut
Part i got but did not use where
T595 triple trees/speedo drive/axle+ nuts
More to add e.g fork bracer to hang mud guard/head light/speedo off etc etc

Of course at the end you can sell thruxton parts which will off set the cost, but am not selling anything, till it all finished and working.

Still not home on this project, by a long way. Give me abit of time to finish it, and i can all the information you need. Still got to finish the CB750 to CR750 project which you can see in the back. Plus being in the force's i spend alot of time out of the country but i will reply

Was planning on waiting, but it got the better of me sorry
Cheers

I'll be really interested to hear how you get on with the twin disc up front, and how much it improves braking.
I'm thinking about doing this, as I think the inadequate standard single disc really lets the bike down on a spirited run!

Question

No problems at all.

Should have most of the plans to hand.
Idea was to keep it all triumph and love the cailper with the name on them.
Did not space out the capilers, i had about 3mm between the edge of cailper and the spokes.
Hope its enough or it be hospital food again for me. Might take abit of the capiler we shall see.

Just need to think of a good name, to get engraved on the top head tree

Any ideas??

ok am off for the night, will keep you posted

Cheers

Darkdog,

Thanks for the facts. This is more of a project than I first thought. Good luck completing it, and I look forward to you posting the results later.
