I'm raking and dropping the bonnie

I was going to do this on an older bonneville or T120 but I just cannot find a good one at a decent price. So, I've decided to do this to my '02 Bonnie. I got the idea when I saw it at a local classic bike shop. It's a hard tail with a slightly raked fork. The tank is cut down and the seat is just a slab of aluminum on the frame with a piece of foam. It's probably going to be the most uncomfortable ride but I need a project. Thoughts?

I love that bike! I just saved those pics to my "Slick Bikes" folder. I would love to cut up my bonnie, but it's my daily driver. I got another aircooled twin for a project.

Johnny,

Diggin' the Buell motor and jackshaft! Looks very trick.

Jo,

Don't cut the frame. Use raked HD forks. So much easier to do and if you ever want to go back to stock... no problemo.

"raked HD forks". Did you have any in mind? Does anyone have experience with these?

Could I just get new raked trees? I guess it depends on how much of a rake I need.

If you're going to build something that cool, you can't use a 'fake' anything. I wouldn't mind seeing a battery sitting in plain sight, but the bike would lose credibility with fake covers. Just my honest thoughts. Check out LedSled or Baas Metal for cool battery boxes.

Sweat,
The jackshaft was needed because the frame was made for my 120 rear tire, the XB uses a 180. The rear of the frame was made narrow so it wouldn't look to wide for the wheel. This sent the chain into the frame tubes, so I had to move the chain. Instead of crowding the right side with both sprockets, I sent it over to the left. I have some cool pics of the jackshaft from start to finish if you want to see them, PM me.
