Clicking sound then hesitation or it dies if at idle.

So my '07 has decided to act up on me. It has air injection removed, and a bafflectomy as far as mods go with 4500 miles on the clock. This afternoon in a light rain at spped sometimes it would make a click sound (sounded like it come from the right side of the bike) and hesitate a little. As I pulled into my driveway it clicked a few more times then clickedand died when I came to a stop. Any ideas? I hope to get this sorted out quickly as it's my daily.

Thanks,
Primo

Sounds like the rain is the cause and may have gotten into your electrics but first check the battery connection. Check all relays and connections and spray with WD40 then apply dielectric grease and reconnect. Also check the coil connection beneath the tank.

sync

Mine was making a clicking noise just before shutting off at lights. It would start right up afterwards. I synced my carbs and no more stalling.

You might insure your side stand switch connector is packed with dielectric grease, it would be the single most exposed connector in a light rain.

Clicking

Mine did that for a short time. Didnt run real well then as well. I pulled the plugs & checked. They were rite on!! I DID notice some "arc" spots on my valve cover @ the time! Checked the wires & all. Put all back & all was- is well. It may have gotten some moisture under the right plug cap, or a loose connection? All is well now, however I may soon replace the wires. The stockers look a little "cheap"? I dont think they would hold up real well in a down pour!! + they are getting to look pretty shabby as well>?

Thumbs down

It ended up being those little rubber caps on the carbs, I happened to have my helmet off and my head down there one day when it stumbled and died and was able to hear it sucking air. On a related note is it just me or is all the rubber on this bike crap. My carb boots are cracking my battery hold down dry rotted in two my front tire has major cracks and now these little caps dry rotted off. All of this in on a 07 with 4500 miles!!! ARGHHH!

Question Rubber

Yeah it all sucks on these bikes. The battery strap (if lucky) will last 7-8 mos! My rubbrer little booties on the carbs have lasted so far. A litle stickum on them will help? Keep an eye on the carb boots. They all were loose (clamps) from the factory!! Hey good w/ the bad?

You can try replacing the rubbers under warranty, and I'd definitely head back to the dealer for a front tire with cracking at that age/mileage, although if he pro-rates it you might not get much for it. Look at it as an opportunity to get better tires, because you'll probably need them soon anyway.
