K&N vs Unifilter

I recently bought a Scrambler and am looking to change out the stock air cleaner element. Has anyone found any real data regarding flow rates or performance of the K&N filter vs the Uni? Any relevant opinions or experience?

K&Ns have a pretty bad filtering rep in the automotive world. I went with the Uni.

Re: K&N vs Unifilter

IMO, the stock filter actually has the best performance/filtering combo.
But you need to change it a some time. No need to do that prematurely though.

I've heard just the opposite, that K&Ns flow better and last longer than UNIs.

I'm with Sweat. Have had good performance from my automotive K&N's for almost 20 years now.

Yes, they do flow better - because they don't do the "filter" part very well.

A year later and I'm finally starting my mods. Unfortunately I'm on a tight budget due to the recent purchase of a garage (with detached two bedroom house). So I'm gonna go for the Uni's. I just put my Pred's on last night, so I'll be sure to let you know what difference the H.A.R.K. makes with the Unifilters.

Pokeyjoe,

I am very interested in using aftermarket filters as well. Were did you get your background data for this statement?

Thanks,

I don't live in a overly dusty area but I've never noticed any premature wear from using K&N products over the last decade or so.
