shifting from neutral to first

quick question. is it normal for the bike to have a mini jerk forwards when shifting from n to first? its not that big to where I can't hold the bike back. I can't remember if it was always like that bike I was thinking it might just be that the tran is catching to the motor so it gives that smalll jerk. is this normal or do I have to adjust something? doesn't happen if I roll backwards first though.

I'd say it's normal, but you might check the adjustment of your clutch cable.

I get a slight lurch forward too with a bit of a clunk sound. nothing where the bike is actually pulling away, but more just like the gears catching. I figured this is normal as I've seen other bikes do the same.

Check your clutch adjustment it's a sign the clutch is slightly engaged, or are you pulling your clutch lever in far enough, either way the clutch should adjust out 1st gear jerk.

Ride on !

Thumbs up Jerk in 1st

Its normal- espec when cold! You can break the grip on the clutch when cold by revving the motor in neutral w/ the clutch held in & when it runs down - shift! Breaks the wet -cold bond on the clutch. It will always clunk a little unless you are moving a little. The norms of a wet clutch! Shouldnt clunk TOO bad tho. I keep my clutch adjusted @ a dimes clearance. When hot & streched- the cable will open up a bit. The dime works well!! Not to worry!

I guess that's better describe. I just thought about it and I go nowhere when I hold in the clutch.
