Can I get what I need at AutoZone?

Looking to do an oil change tonight. The dealer has done all the previous oil changes. Is there oil and a filter I can pick up at AutoZone that would be good, or should I wait to go to the dealer and pay $$$$$$ for the "proper" filter and oil? Thanks.

I would buy the oil filter from the dealer and then go buy the oil from Autozone or even Wally-Mart cause it will be cheaper there. Also while you are at Autozone you might pick up a oil filter wrench ( if you don't have one already) like this:

Mine was a pain to take off. Not much clearance there to work with.

Filters are easy (see the above post). I can never find the oil I'm looking for at AutoZone, though. I end up at Kragen and then I get the last gallon on the shelf. Good luck. You might also try Wal-Mart for oil.

Thumbs up Got NAPA?

If so A NAPA Gold 1358 filter. Good MC syn oil as in Mobil 1, Amzoil (my preference) or any good MC designed syn oil. Then you should be good to go. If you cant hand off the filter- a pair of water pump pliers will do the trick! Dont over fill!! Get as much out as you can & dump in 3.5 qts. That should do it? Wait till after all has settled & check. Should be rite on? If not add a little if needed. As long as you are NOT above the site glass- you are OK!
Tighten the filter by hand & give it that extra little twist w/ both hands & all shoould be OK. Make sure you lube the filter seal!! I dont- some do prefill the filter. If you dont rev the engine till the light goes out- its OK. HAve fun!! Its a dirty job but someone has to do it!! Have fun!!

Thanks, so the Mobil 1 4Mt 10W40 and a K&N filter should be fine I reckon. Do I need to look for a specific K&N model#?

I just bought my oil & a funnel last week at Auto Zone. Mobil 1 full synthetic 15w50 - came 6 quarts in a box at $6.83 per quart (no bargain IMHO). The filter I ordered direct from K&N and it arrived next day - good filter and no wrench needed - just a 17mm socket. I used an adjustable wrench to get the Triumph filter off - a little scraped up, but it was getting tossed in the trash anyway.

I'd like to find a local source who sells K&N filters for my Scrambler at a reasonable rate (anything below $13).
