And it makes we wonder...
I just wonder...if you put the rears back on AND leave the forward mounts...can you ride three up? Seriously though, so many of you guys are far more talented than I when it comes to your ability to think up and fabricate these types of custom mods. Well done says I. Now then...if ya need a three minute rock song...I'm yer man.
Cheers,
SK

That could work, but I would probably just weld on new plates to the end of the brackets with the holes for the peg locator pins at 45 degrees instead of 90. Not as versatile, but more solid for sure.

Hedge,
It was your bars and Modre's that inspired me to design and build my own. I like yours a lot, very clean and simple. I was looking for a little more legroom with mine though so I designed the bar to mount much lower.
My bar tucks in way down here:

That's what I thought but wasn't positive until right now. Yours are definitely going to be more functional and more comfortable than mine. Alas, I might have to go back to the drawing board for next winter and redesign the bar part - or better yet buy your bar, heat and twist the peg folding direction and mount my pegs to them. Mine are just a little to high to be comfotable for extended periods. Yours will be at a great position for long travel time. Like I said previously - great job!

Re-looking at your kit please help me out to understand how you did this. The brackets look like they mount to the same place I mount mine which is part of the engine mount. Instead of going back like mine yours drop down to hold the bar on - right? Therefore if this is true - how do you get the half circle part of the brackets to attach to the cross bar? I am going to assume that you weld it on - right? If that be so then all I would have to do is twist the bar so that the foot pegs roll back instead of up and then weld - right?
Am I understanding this correctly? I "gots" Ideas!

looks like they bolt to it, Hedge, using those 2 bolts sitting there.

Hedge,
It's kind of funny but sometimes I mistakenly assume that because I understand something everyone else should as well. Of course I know this setup a little better than most people can be expected to. The pics don't really make it very clear.
I'll post the pic and describe the kit just a bit:

The kit as shown is in its finished form (with the exception of the nuts to secure the pegs to the new brackets) no further welding is required.
from the top: - Bolts to take the place of the (now) missing rear pegs and hold the exhaust to the bike.
- The two part bars with welded tabs and peg brackets. These started out as a single bar, but then I realized that once the peg brackets were welded on there was no way the bar would slide into this very tight opening. At that point I modified the design to allow the bars to slip in from each side.
- Engine/frame mounting brackets. They extend pretty much straight down from the large mounting hole. I spent more time on these than anything else in the kit, trying to get 'em right. Their shape is very specific to avoid the obstacles in their path. If you look at them closely you can see that I have welded a nut onto each of these.
- The small bolts pass through the tabs on the bars and secure them to the mounting brackets. The brackets were designed with the bar alignment half holes to allow the bar to slip onto them. In hindsight since the bars are now in two pieces I probably could have allowed for a complete hole which would have given me better options for securing the bars to the brackets. Not sure about that though, it's pretty tight in there and they are good and sturdy as is.
I hope that helps to clear things up a bit. I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas transferred to metal Hedge. Build something cool.
I've gotten a few PMs about these bars, and I want to say thanks for all the compliments and interest you guys have shown. It's very gratifying to see my work appreciated, and to contribute to the community here.
