Using The Warranty At The First Service Check
Hello again. I had my first service check a month ago. The main reason I didn't do it my self was I wanted to point out a couple of things I thought would be covered under warranty. Not very big items, but things I thought should be brought to their attention. My right side cover was rubbing against the intake boot hose clamp and chipping the paint off the cover. I didn't notice it until it was to late. The left side intake boot between the air box and carb is showing cracks in it. They are replacing both items under warranty. Since then I noticed my right side fuel bowl valve screw is sticking out past the carb body and the left side is not. I am not leaking any fuel. I called and told service about it and they told me they would look at it and compare it to another bike when I come down to have my warranty parts replaced.
So, has anyone else noticed (nit picked) items like this while cleaning their bikes? The part that is agonizing is I have my Epco exhaust and a rejet kit waiting to go, but I don't want to go forward with those modifications until I have this sorted out. I don't want to be the blame since I will be tinkering in that whole area.
We discussed how the warranty is handled. If I put a new exhaust on and the wiring harness burns up, the wiring harness is covered under warranty, but if the valves would burn up more than likely I am on my own. Another words, If I would have done my modifications and then presented these small problems there is a good possibility the replacement items I will be getting would be funded from my pocket book.
Once again these aren’t big issues I am just wondering if anyone else has found small things like this on their bikes.

Same situation. I did the 500 mile service myself, but had the dealer fix a leaky valve cover and dodgy neutral light during the 7k service. (Yes, got it to 7k mi while still under warranty)
Of course, since then I've thrown the bike down the road and done a bunch of modifications, so I think the warranty issue is moot now.

Carb screws
Those carb drain screws are normal. I noticed the same thing last week when I rejetted my carbs. I have a spare set of carbs (don't ask why, I just do) and those have the same mismatch on the drain screw. I dont know why those screws are different. It might be something to do with machining the carb body, or some inline assembly identifier.
Anyway, I do not have any niggles on my bike - had an embarrassing "thought the fuel cap was stuck but it wasn't really" incident, but my dealer was really good about it and didn't take the piss.
You are right to bring the niggles up to your dealer though, get things resolved to your satisfaction.

I wonder why? I will let them deal with it. Maybe I will ask them to open it up and drain it to make sure it isn't stripped or cross threaded before I get in there.
Did yours loosen and tighten with no problem?

On both of my pairs of carbs all 4 drain screws loosend and tightened just fine.
I was bit perplexed - but since it looks standard I shrugged the shoulders and proceeded to main jet removal..........

Warranty
Never got the chance to use my warranty. God knows I tried. Did the ton @ 350 mi. Didnt beat up the ole girl - but if anything was gonna break, I wanted to know while still on waranty! Still done notta cept change oil & filter + a new rear tire & brakes. I guess I got a good one? Still runs like a swiss watch. Same battery- which has me a little scared? Still turns over like a champ so- so far- so good! The way it seems here is- You got a good one or? I never thought I would own a Triumph that was as reliable or better as some past Honda's!!

How old is your battery? They can be variable - I tend to ditch them if they are over 5 years old (except on my lawnmower where breakdown only means a 100 yard walk at worst), although auto batteries can go up to 10 years if nursed, nurtured and cared for.
I just don't like to risk it over 5 is all.
Sorry - a bit off topic, but an important point.
