Rear Pad Thickness
Took me rear wheel off today, ready to get a new tyre on it. Whilst it was off I decided to check out the brake pads. I know the book say's the minimum thickness is 1.5mm. On one side the pad is 2.4mm and on the other its 3.8mm.

What though is the starting thickness of the pads?

The bike's got close on 5K miles on it, so I would be nice to know the wear rate. Considering new pads whilst I've got it all stripped down.

if there's meat left on the pads (not just metal) and they're grabbing ok, I'd leave them alone.

I'd change them, pads aren't that dear and if you decide to try and get the max out of them you might forget to check them and screw your disk$$$$$

i know i need to change mine out.

is there a good source for new brake pads? all i see on the bonnie-specific sites are the Carbone Lorraine brake pads for around $30-40.

many thanks!

Other Motorcycle: I wish!
I dont know if Triumph use extra thin pads when assembling the bikes, but I had to replace my rear pads at about 6k miles.
The replacement pads have about 12k miles on them when I checked them when replacing the front pads, they looked about half worn.

I would probably replace them, but it is up to you, there is still life in them for now.

When you do replace them be sure to clean and lubricate the calipers so that the pads will wear more evenly.

Brake Pads and Hello's
I fitted an EBC front floating disc with HH pads.
Dont need to use the back brake now so the pads will last forever!!

Greetings all from another UK newby.
Have had my '06 Scrambler for 3 weeks now. It had 350 miles from new on the clock!! Bought it as a second bike but now having spent 800 more GB Pounds on it (expensive Zard exhaust +++++++etc etc!!!) its now my favorite.
(My other bike is a Ducati S4RS loon machine!!)
Bring on the good weather......................
