All tyres require a break in period - but it doesn't usually take long, and it's really just to scrub the outside off, I have never heard of tyres handling improving with mileage - but that doesn't mean nobody else has experienced it. I can't explain what you are seeing - but it would seem to me that the suspension mods you did have more to do with it than anything.
