Cats on Bikes?
I know on some larger disp engines - they have been here, but on a Bonne? What next- let me see , our weedwakerrs, lawn mowers, snow blowers (that oughta be a real good one!!) Hell the heat of the cat would melt the snow- negagitng the blower part! A new invention!! A snow melter? Kinda outa hand!! Thgere oughta be a limit on cc's for cats. The emmisssions from a cat arent really better that a well tuned engine! Sulfur dioxide gas & water = sulfuric acid!! Computers can control emmissiomns so why do we even need CATS any more?? $$ I am sure. There has to be a good profit on them & if ALL internal combustion engines are req to have them= BIG $$$$!!! I remember selling Mazdas in the 70's & they had a unit called a thermal reactor. It met all emission stds then & now. Are they used any more? NO~! It used the heat from the exhaust thru a special screen to burn off any excess un burnt gasses. Catalictic converters are an unecessary item any more! Will they go away- not likely! Too much $$ being made. I guess thats what we call progress? Removing the A/I will help your pipes, but I NEVER heard of a "pre - catylist? I guess that makes me a dummy too? O well- mine has none of that sh**!!

Blue is beautiful. If a guy doesn't like it on his pipes he can get doublewalled units.

Are you talking about this:

The evaporative loss system, also known as the charcoal canister.

CAPTDON;

over here (Europe) they're planning a law that'll forbid the building of two stroke engines, so you are right: two stroke mopeds,m.cycles,lawnmowers,chainsaws, power units,motorized wheelchairs etc. will follow the dinosaurs in a couple of years...

the pre cats come out very easily
you can punch them out with a drain snake, that has a wooden spool fitted to the end and then go after the remains with a hook. ask the '08 sv-650 how it feels now after its colonoscopy.

Thanks for your input guys but the big question still remains will the pre cats get blocked as a result of the A I removal, Norman Hyde is a respected supplier of Triumph parts and their not selling this kit for the EFI models for this reason.

They are not selling it because of current issues with the law.

Cats
Hey Grey- Can you imagine a motorized wheel chair or anything like that w/ a cat?? They will have to have 350 ci engines to make them move & they are so HOT !! A lawn mower w/ a cat will do a nice job of setting fires!! I think this all is getting a "little" out of hand!!
Computers on cars & trucks "should" take care of any pollution problems? That was a pollution control devise of the 70's- before computers, like A/I! We have come a long way since then. The emmissions from a cat = sulphur dioxide gas- which as mentioned add moisture= sulphuric acid! I remember them "shrink wrapping" cars in the late 70's to protect the paint from the stuff dripping outa the Cats! There has to be (& probably is) a better way! But if $$ is concerned- then it probably will never happen? There should @ least be a limit on how big an engine has to be before requiring a "Cat"! Not likely rite??
