07-08 Bonneville range?

How much range are you guys getting on a tank? I´m thinking of touring at steady speed and easy on the throttle.

The last check I did was after a mixture of highway and city riding and I was getting 16.87Km / litre which worked out to be around 5.9 Litres / 100km.

So on 13L main tank I should get around 220Km before I need reserve which should give me another 50km. However the very first check I did when the bike was new, this was around 6.6 litres / 100Km which saw me going to reserve at 198km.

To be safe I work on around 210km main and around 45km reserve.

I just did a 1000 mile tour this week. I hit reserve between 120 and 128 miles every time.

120 - 128 total miles before reserve is exactly what I get also.

range

Ditto on the 125-128 but you can stretch it by being stingy on the take offs and when you run up through the gears, shift early and come up to speed slowly, coast up to stops with engine idling...
However, all that usually only results in maybe another 7-10 miles increase in range....philosophically, ***, just ride the bike like you want to and remember
Thrills=low mileage....lol.....but the soul sometimes needs those thrills....and if you pro-rate the "thrill" factor with todays gas prices, each "thrill" costs you approximately $.97....bottom line= just ride her like you want to, when she goes on reserve, gas her up and go again, life is far too short to worry about your range, you are on a magnificent bike, the air is fresh, the feeling of something exciting between your legs, just try wiping that smile off your face.....

Howdy Dave. Checked my 07 Bonneville (1100km approx) last Sunday on a combined drive through secondary roads with moderate to steep-long uphills, rolling country and finishing a tank for 60km @ highway speed @ 110-120km. Ambient air temp varied from 8C to 20C (coast to inland drive) and I got 240km (144 miles) on a full tank to reserve......it coughed, I switched to reserve and filled up 10km later ok. I wasn't trying to stretch it out....just drive like I enjoy it....rolling on the throttle a few times just a little (still breaking it in). General high gear operation was between 2700 and 4200 rpm with the bulk of it between 3000 and 3800.

About 110 miles to reserve as currently set up. That's a rough number, it wasn't necessarily filled completely to the filler neck and might go a little farther on a really full tank. It also included a small distance of stop and go city driving.

With my 07 SM I usually hit reserve between 140 & 160 depending on the type of riding. I will admit that the 140 is the most frequent.
