Bonnie and Thruxton Speedo

On a recent ride with three Ducati Sport Classics, Two Thruxtons and my Bonnie, I noticed somthing interesting, my bonnie's odometer read diffrently than the thruxtons. and the Triumps read diffrent than the Ducks. Could Triumph have used the same speedo and drive for the thrux and the bonnie even though the wheels are diffrent?

Pretty sure the speedo drive gear is different to take account of the smaller wheel on the Thrux. The part numbers are certainly different. I suspect if you took a big enough sample of Bonnies, then there would be a few whose speedos read significantly differently to the majority.

Speedo

My Bonne has always read 5 mph under. Try not to look @ it much- safer to keep eyes on the car infront of & beside you!

Speedo's in general are not that accurate. You can see this if you use a bicycle speedo calibrated specifically to your wheel, or a gps. In fact the cars I have owned also have inaccurate speedos. Virtually all of the machines read at least 10% high. There is engouh consistency that I have concluded that the manufactuers deliberately bias the meters. My ducati in particular had optimiatic speedos.
